RF Frequency Selective Switch by Multiple PMIM Conversions

Nowadays, broadband and multi-channel radio frequency (RF) processing has been widely used in communication, radar, countermeasure, other applications. At present, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO)-oriented microwave photonic signal technology is relatively scarce, so this paper proposes an RF selective switch (FSS) based on multiple phase modulation to intensity (PMIM) conversions. PMIM conversion narrowband filtering the past. We extend it a wideband arbitrarily reconfigurable spectrum unit through optical comb periodic filter. Although we use incoherent combination of multi-wavelength light source, can obtain any response including rectangles only by using all positive tap coefficients. Using wavelength (WSS), FSS, spectral resolution FSS much better than that WSS, which improved more two orders magnitude. The above principles, single-channel are verified experiments. Our provides stable solution for future MIMO processing.
